Still amazed & horrified

W5R1 today, that was ok. Amazed I can run for 5 minutes. Now I discover next time I have to run for 8 minutes at a time, then 20! 20 whole minutes, in succession, no stopping, no walking, no assistance. What????????????? This is surely the stuff of legend? 🤔

You'll be grand - I actually enjoyed that 1st 20 minute run😊

It's nowhere near as scary as your brain is telling you and your body is more than capable of doing it!

Don't set off too fast and you will soon settle into it - the feeling when you get to the end is the best ever😁

Good luck for rest of your week and beyond x

Thank you so much for the encouragement. I am living for the day I can use enjoy & run in the same sentence! I will remember your words as I plod through the 20 minute run. 😱Not sure I can do 8 at the moment but then said the same about 5 I suppose. 😂

"Stuff of legend" really made me laugh! I know exactly what you mean! I graduated yesterday and I thought exactly the same as you when I was sneaking a look at what was to come on various runs, and yet here I am (a legend 😂). Whatever you do, make sure you give yourself a massive pat on the back for all the milestones along the way - really big yourself up. Second to graduating, I think the achievement I was most amazed and proud of was running for 5 mins. Here's some applause from me to get you started 👏.

Ha ha, thank you, you legend! Yes, 5 minutes seemed impossible to me just the other week but 20 minutes (& even 8) seems like such a massive step up. I am, however, taking inspiration from legends like yourself & hopefully I too can join your ranks! 🤞😂

You'll definitely do it - I think there's some kind of voodoo in the app that makes it possible!

Yes, there is some freaky **** going on with it but it's great. Consistently surprising myself which isn't easy at my age! Thanks for the encouragement. It's folks like you on here that take the time to post that really help non legends like me believe in the impossible!

I have just completed Week 5 Run 3, thought all week about doing it and then I realised that the run you do before is two 8 minute runs, this is 16 minutes of running in total so it’s only running for four more minutes. I did it and enjoyed it. You will too, just remember all the advice of a slow pace. Good luck

It’s amazing how we forget as we move along the programme. I’ll never do 5 mins at the start, 8 mins omg, 20 mins you’re having a laugh! I’ve just completed a 25 min run, as everyone else has said have faith in the app and ignore the voices in your head. Slow and steady you’ve got this 😀

You’ll nail the 20 min run, mind over matter, it’s actually a fun run to do, you realise that all the training has been conditioning you ready for the 20 mins, time stands still but also flies by, hard to explain but the feeling when you’re told 60 seconds to go is a massive boost, when Sarah said you can walk now I didn’t want to!!

Go get em! 🙌🏻

I did week 5 run 1 yesterday and then snuck a look at run 2 and 3. Holy cats ears; 8 mins and then 20 mins. I am a little freaked now and wondering how I can run for 20 minutes straight. But then I remembered that when I started running for a minute or so was so hard. What is this sorcery? 😃 🏃‍♀️

Your first 20 min run will be extra special....trust me!!!

The programme preps you for it without you realising it....and the high you get when you actually do it lasts for days!!!

Go slow.....go steady.......and you'll smash it!!!👊

Well done on getting this far!👍
