Just back from a run and was asked by my visiting in laws what the aim of all this running was. I couldn't really answer as I don't have a goal. I don't intend to do an organised 5k, go further, go faster, lose weight or any of the things normally quoted.
I realised I wasn't doing anything anymore that raised my heart rate and my children were getting faster than me (oldest is a small 10 year old). Didn't want the expense of a gym or class so started c25k in Feb.
I sleep better, think better and generally feel better. That's enough.

Good heart health in addition to everything you’ve said! And I find that it takes some of the guilt out of the custard creams too when I’ve been for a run 😉
I think sleeping, thinking and feeling better are perfect aims for an exercise regime. Along with that you have probably reduced your risk of a whole host of conditions associated with inactivity and should you succumb to a critical illness, as I did, you will be in the best possible condition to fight your way through.
