First Park Run! πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

A few of us cobbled together a virtual running club and did our first Park Runs today.

I loved it, so supportive and cheering you on all the way. Just over 330 people did it (I think) and it’s well established with lots and lots of regulars.

My Strava time was 35.01 with a great pace (sub 7min/km!!!!!!) after my recent endeavours...... My official PR time was 36.32 (with a pee break) position 273

I blame Luke - he made me go faster! (And he even finished a couple of minutes in front of me.

Verdict - we’ll be back in a few weeks and it will become a regular feature of my running week and journey to 10K.

Great time! Anything sub-7 minutes is a killer for me. Must get around to doing one soon.

It was a bit, but no matter how tired I thought I was, the home stretch makes you run even faster.... my split for that 0.1km was sub 6min/km!

All the best runners take a pee break. 😊 Good run, Mitch, well done! xx

lol - it’s a difficult balance between a having enough water on board and needing β€œa break”..... I didn’t drink that much when I got up.... honest! X

I’m not really sure how they calculated it.... one second we were all standing there, then all of a sudden the crowd started moving!

I’m so pleased which ever time is real lol

Yay! Well done, Mitch! Glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully the first of many. (I’ve no idea how to take a pee break at ours, but guess that’s easier for the guys! πŸ˜‚) πŸ‘πŸ˜ƒβ€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Nope...we just have trees (which are rather exposed on all sides!) πŸ˜‚

Yes mate - I’ve made a note. Will be towards mid-end August as I’m away for next few weeks.

Keep an eye out for a post as well πŸ‘πŸ‘

What was your time / stats??

Well done loungelizaard, I knew you’d enjoy it. A good time too. No chance of a wee stop on Southsea prom.

Fantastic! My first yesterday as well - Strava time 34.46, which was my first sub 35. Official 35.13 and am happy with that. I’ll be back πŸ˜ƒ

Fantastic! These organised events are brilliant. Task sense of community. I've not done a Parkrun yet, just a few charity events, but it's on the hit list.

Glad you enjoyed it! 😁😘

Excellent first PR Mr Lizaard!!!!

They don't have portaloos on our run and I don't think the members of the public would take too kindly to runners peeing off the top of the cliffs.

Although they measure your finish times quite accurately, start times are a bit hit and miss I think. If you start near the back, you can easily be down 20-30 seconds to start with.

But 36:32 is a great time. Besides, you don't want to put in your best time on your first run, it's much better to knock a few seconds off each subsequent run, then you keep getting to see "New PB" on the official time sheet ;)

I’m not sure tbh. I started my Strava within 5 seconds of everyone starting to run. I made sure I was at the back so I was out of the way.... so not sure how I’m over a minute different.
