W2R2 completed but I am still running round the house like a daftie as I cannot bring myself to face the neighbours. If someone was to look in the windows I would dread to think what they would imagine was happening. Maybe after next week all going well I may venture out.
I need courage.: W2R2 completed but I am still... - Couch to 5K
I need courage.
I certainly plotted ridiculous routes to avoid the houses of anyone I vaguely knew. After a few runs you realise nobody really cares. And just remember you are lapping everyone still on the couch!
You got off of the couch, and that took a lot of courage. You got through week one, and that took a lot of courage. You certainly have enough courage to go outside! People don’t really care. And for the ones who do care what you look like, their opinion does not matter anyway! Snow and cold will be here soon enough, so now is the time to get outside. Lace up and run! ❤️
Get outside. Wear a cap and shades to start - I did. Lasted a week and after that I didn’t care anymore! Honestly, most will be actually thinking I wish I could run... I know I did when I saw others running. And now I can and so can you 😊
I started off up and down beside a field on the edge of the village so nobody could see. Now I run on a little lane which doesn’t go anywhere. Never see a car but do see others running, and now I don’t care, I don’t even care if they come from behind and pass me. I think the confidence to be seen comes with the confidence that you can run, so it will come in sure if it.
Don't worry about the neighbours, you'll find that nobody really notices you when you run outside, you just blend into the background as "another runner".
Don't forget you've got a five minute warm up walk before you start running, which is ample time to get some distance between you and your immediate neighbours. Or if you really can't face it, pop out in the car and park up in a different local neighbourhood where nobody knows you.
Have you read the guide to the plan? healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which explains that nobody will actually notice you outdoors.............runners are virtually invisible.
There have been many like you over the years, who have gone on to run outside once the confidence has grown and then wondered why they worried.
You can do this.
