Just done week 4, run 2 - surprised myself. My ‘coach’ Laura is fab. Which voice do others use?
I’m 60 - it ‘s now or never!: Just done week... - Couch to 5K

Hi Jayne60, Welcome! Well done for making a start! I'm 61, so pretty similar to your age. I am behind you with techy skills and have not yet down loaded podcasts to my Nokia phone. I know that many folk on the forum have enjoyed Laura! I hope I have attached our mentor's very helpful how to run C25k post, full of so much to help you on your journey. This forum is super! So many people helping and encouraging one another on. Keep posting to let everyone know how you are getting on and to ask for help. Al the best for your next run.

Hi Jayne60 I use Michael Johnson simply because I respect him, but the advice you get is the same regardless of who you choose. Good luck!

Hi well done you I listen to sarah Milligan the Geordie comedian 😂😂😂
I must give Sarah a try - maybe when I get to Week 6. Can’t imagine running for 25 mins but when I started 60 secs was a struggle 😅
You will be fine the program is great gets you ready for the later weeks enjoy your running 😊

I use MJ too. He was an awesome athlete and I’m hoping some of his aura will be passed to me by osmosis! I love his calm instructions and I myself answering him sometimes - I also say thanks and bye at the end.
Love this programme - good luck with your progress! 😀🏃♀️👍🏻

Hi! I have MJ and even though the script is still the same I can visualise him in talking about runner technique and attitude in the TV studio. It serves as an extra reminder for me to keep good form and think like an athlete - even though I’m far from it 😂 well done on your journey so far and all the best!
Hi Jayne I am also 60 and I will hopefully graduate on Saturday🤞there are quite a few of us oldies on here! Persevere with it don't stress, go at your own pace. Follow other people who are in the same situation I.e. Doubting they can do it, same age etc, they will encourage you along your journey! You will be fine! I used Jo Wiley as my coach! Good luck!😀
Milican
Hi well done. I listen to Sarah miligan keep at it.

Well done .. so hope you are enjoying it . I had Laura as my mentor abd she was great - she got me through each session . At the start would never have thought I could make the progress and admit to re running w9 as not ready to let go !

Hello Jayne, I used Laura on the podcast version, and when I moved a week ago, to the app I changed to Jo, which was nice to have a change, but felt a bit disloyal to Laura. Good luck, I’ve just finished and am 57.
Hi Jayne, I’m also coming up to 60 -
Less than a month away 😳I’m on week five run 1, I’ll be attempting this tonight and to be honest I found the last run hard but didn’t stop so pleased with myself - I have Sara Milligan -

I like MJ. There’s something about his voice & the fact he is a coach in his day job
Hi All,
Ive got just over a year until 60. Am seriously overweight. And am going to be mother of the bride next year.
I’ve never been into sport (from school onwards). But amazingly have got to week 5 (it seems to get really serious now?) though in week 1, I doubted getting very far at all.
Have just found this healthunlocked chain, which is a real encouragement 👍 to hear other stories.
Am off out for my next run now 🏃♀️

Hi Jane. All you youngsters make me feel even older than the aches and pains of being 67. I only started last week so tomorrow it's week 2 run 2 for me. I download the podcasts to my Ipod so Laura is my girl. I do have a smart phone, and could use the app, but it's a bit big so I just carry an old smaller phone in case of emergency.
You're about half way to "graduation" so tell yourself "It's all downhill from here".
Keep on keeping on.

I'm pushing 60 too and listen to Sarah Millican. I like her geordie accent.

Hi there, I am 60, graduated last week, I used Sarah Millican and still do to keep me going for 30 minutes. Good luck to you and have fun!
I’m 64 and used Laura. Graduated now and miss her. Good luck
Hello, are you still running and if so what’s your motivation and plan. I am 64 too and I’m on R2W3
Yes still running, like the way it gets fat off me, plan to lead up to 20k next
So you’ve lost weight? Can I ask how much and how long did it take? 20k! Wow, I am in awe! That’s something for me to aspire to.

Hi Jayne, well done. I'm 58 and only just completed C25K. I think we more mature people deserve an extra pat on the back! I can't imagine our parent's generation taking up running at our age can you? In years to come we'll be glad we got off the couch when we did and will enjoy the benefits of improved health and fitness as we age. Have fun 😊👍

Hi Jayne60. I turned 61 by doing Wk8R1.I too felt that I should do something to keep myself fit into my 60s and beyond.I graduated with a Park Run in sub 30mins and just finished my second run of the week. It becomes something you do 3 mornings a week before a shower and work. You will do just fine especially if you use Michael Jordan as your coach..a serious athlete. Good luck and keep running.

Hi Jayne. I have Laura on my ipod shuffle. I'll be 69 in December but really age doesn't matter if you have the right mindset. If we want to be fit and healthy we owe it to ourselves to do something about it. I've always enjoyed hillwalking, keep fit etc and running is new to me but I'm now at W7 and loving every minute.
Hello Jayne, I’m 64 so it’s good to see that there are a few of us. I shall be doing R2W3 tomorrow and I am very pleased with my progress so far. My coach is Sarah Millican. Unfortunately I don’t have a playlist for her to speak over as I tend to listen to books instead, so I think there may be some very long periods of nothing when the longer runs come in.
Hi Jayne I thought I replied to this earlier - we’ll done on your commitment - I will be sixty in four weeks 😳so decided to try to get fit too - I listen to Sara Milligan and my music - I completed week week four on Tuesday and did find it a bit hard but once I got into the third run I was ok. Will be out for my first run of week 5 tonight but will need motivation as I’m working from 7pm after looking after my grandson all day 🤪
I too have just turned 60- no bungee jumps planned but thought this would be a good challenge. I’m doing ok but really think that if you leave it more than two days between runs it’s more difficult and I’ve had to leave three or four days just recently which makes it tough. We can do it though!!
Well done Jayne60, slow and steady does it!
I have Sarah Millican ‘Well done flower’ is now my favourite motivational phrase...always makes me smile.
Good luck and well done from another not-so-young woman. I'm 63 and now on Week6, surprising myself and getting huge satisfaction out of the increased stamina and fitness. As so many have said, the programme really does work!

Hi Jayne, you'll be able to do it. I'm nearly 58 and only just started running after many years. I used to do a bit of cross-country running at school but that was 40 years ago. In the intervening years all I've done is brisk walking or the odd all-day hike in the mountains. Tomorrow (Friday) is my graduation run. I know I can do it because I've already completed run 1 and run 2 of week 9 which are identical to the final run. When I started 8 weeks ago I wasn't sure I'd make it, but now I'm certain I can (and if I can do it anyone can). I've been helped on my journey by the dulcet tones of Sarah Millican.

Hi Jayne. I'm 64 and amazed to have got to the point of being about to start week 9. I am not 'sporty', hadn't run for decades and didn't think I could do it, but now running 4k (just) in 28 mins. I use Sarah Millican, and find the incentive she gives to be essential in keeping going! Good luck

I ran with Michael (felt like it at least) and like many others I talked to him and told him my thoughts strangely enough he never let me slack off and yeehh I graduated : still run with him repeating W9R3 as I'm not ready to cut the apron strings just yet
