GW1R2......I am getting slower!

Hmmmm.....that first 20 minutes remains a bit of a bugger.

I do speed up after that and end of get into a swing - and do feel like I could probably continue ambling along....but it would be nice to go a wee bit faster as I seem to be stuck at an average of 7.10min/km.....with all the 'speed' at the end! It would be nice to be able to do that first 20 faster than I can walk!!

ideas?

Impressed by the progress of sallenson ...it looks like targets help - maybe I need one and I definitely miss Michael J

:-)

Help.....

Heck, love, I'm not in the business of being emulated on here :-)

But unpack your problem a bit....

Is it that you're really slower than you were in W9? If you just use the W9 app/podcast and have MJ again would that help?

Or are you concerned that you're not any faster? Not the same thing...

Or is it really about you being fast/not fast vs not really being fully comfortable with 30 mins yet?

If it's an endurance thing, then try nailing a really consistent cadence for a while. Try out the Stepping Stones podcast for one of your runs

If it's really a speed thing, then use the Speed podcast to do some intervals. Or just do some informal "fartlek" stuff

I don't think there's a "magic bullet". It depends what the issue really is. But there are a bunch of things you could try.

At the risk of total heresy, I'm not convinced that just doing your three 30-minute runs will necessarily improve your running, if that's what you want to do. Or it may, but only slowly. But replace one or two of the runs with something different might make a bigger difference if you're careful. And will certainly be more fun than another routine "Get the trainers on and just plod along for 30 minutes."

People may come along now and shoot me down. That's fine. I'm a learner. But variety is the spice of life....

Cool - I think you are right - the plod along for 30 mins isn't doing a thing for me and I am starting to find it a bit dull...I shall try the stepping stones, then speed, then the magic bullet....ooh, wait....not the magic bullet.....the other thing!

Have my false beard ready to deal with your heresy.....
