Hi I'm quite a bit overweight and hardly done any exercise in the last 10-12 years. I'm determined but also worried about what I may do to myself if I overdo it. Has anyone else been in this situation?

Hey Racky. I’m a bit overweight too and honestly never thought I would be running for exercise.
Best advice is just take it slow and definitely listen to your body. If you need to take two days rest between runs then do. The programme is very flexible and designed for complete beginners
Honestly it is possible, I’m on week 4 and never have stuck to an exercise routine before! Trust the programme and take it slow you will be fine

The great thing about the program is that it is all about taking it at your own pace. Many of us didn’t finish in 9 weeks because we listened to what our bodies were telling us and years later we are still happily running. If you do that it is very hard to do yourself an injury. Any worry about your health check it out with your Gp before you start. In my experience they more than happy to give everyone the ok.
I’m also quite chubby, unfit and 56. I can also wholeheartedly endorse this program. I agree, take it slow. In the beginning, I took two or even three rest days to help my body heal. (No more than that, tho!) I’m on week 6, run 2, but I’ve been doing it for 7+ chronological weeks. You are going to do great! Believe in yourself and in the program. 😁

Welcome to the forum.
Your description of yourself would fit very many new C25K runners, so don't worry about that aspect.
