Need a re-boost

Hi all, I graduated in November / December ish and was LOVING my running and up until March. Then I did me a grade two calf tear. And ran again too soon so made it worse.

Started running again using the c25k thing again starting at about week 4 ish. It was going fine. Still kind of is but I’m not quite managing 3 times a week currently.

At the moment though, I’ve started a new job, which has me travelling and driving around (that won’t last - I’ll be home based) and I’m so tired.

ALSO, and I think I’m an alien on this one, I prefer winter running. I don’t like being too warm. I even went out at 7am yesterday and still got frustrated. Bugs and flies and hay wrapped round my feet and butterflies and the sun. 😂😂

My calves are so tight and I really struggled. Since my calf tear, I’m finding tightness in my Achilles. It was horrible.

I’m feeling demotivated!!!!

And another thing(!!!!) I tried doing some 15/20 min strength training at home every other day or so and some simple short yoga. Along with my running I was ruined and it wasn’t even that much.

Am I just asking too much of myself or am I just becoming lazy?

Hello Jandotty, welcome back to running.

Well you certainly have a lot going on at the moment, which is going to make things more difficult for sure. However, you ARE running and exercising despite the pressure of life, so give yourself a huge pack on the back.

Running in the heat is hard....I don’t like it either , so you are not alone preferring winter running. In the summer I try to run between 6-7 am if I can. I also try to stick to shorter runs in the heat. You already know you need also to be well hydrated at all times.

Just for now why not just run when you can, twice a week is great. If you can then fit in one yoga and one strength day each week you will be doing great. When life settles down you can increase your running routine if you want to. But for now take some pressure off yourself or you won’t stick with it. You are doing great, slow and steady back into it is the way.......you can do this.

Keep posting, we will try to support 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻
