Before I started I had a major hang up, bit vain but I didn't want people to see me red faced and sweating, gasping for air like a fish out of water.
Did it anyway and actually, having caught a glimpse of myself, how lovely is it to see and feel that accomplished glow. Literal glow! My face goes redder than rudolphs nose!
And the shower to rinse off sweat, mud and tears of joy, I don't think I've ever enjoyed showers more!
I know it's a bit of a strange hang up, but just in case there is anyone considering doing this but has similar hang ups, do it! I promise it will be great!

I look like my head is about to explode!! My teenage children have become quite alarmed at times at my redness, when I return from a really challenging run in some of the extreme heat and humidity we have had recently.
However - I no longer let it bother me - it is all means to an end!
My wife recovered from major brain surgery and after doing her 1st Parkrun back was very red faced afterwards, I was quietly alarmed for a short while but all was fine, it had got quite hot during the run...
The most amazing thing for me was.... Nobody cares how red you are as you run past! Apart from the odd smile, most people ignore me as I huff and puff past them.... It's great 🤣🤣
I think we feel we are celebrities of some sort. “Ooh, somebody will spot my red face, or the colour of my top, or how slow/fast/clumsy l am”, etc....
Nobody, but NOBODY, stops and looks at a running person. We do get seen, yes, but if somebody really stops/stares/comments at a passing jogger/runner then we ought to stop and help that person.
I run wearing basketball gear. Depending on how l feel you may catch me in full blown NBA kit. People notice me at times, as you would notice a balloon being blown across the road. Briefly.
I have always gone alarmingly red in the face when doing any exercise, and it stays bright red for about an hour afterwards, so I know how you feel!
I used to get teased about it at school (part of the reason why I picked up a second hand treadmill when I decided to try running!), but I am going to try and not think about it when it’s time to go running outside...
