When you run only slightly faster than you walk....

I'm new here, have never been any good at running, and so I'm amazed to find myself having just finished week 4. : )

I just wondered whether anyone else runs incredibly slowly; literally, only slightly faster than their walking pace? Does running like a tortoise still count? I can finish the whole run if I keep to this slow steady pace; any faster and I just can't cope! I've got asthma which is exercise induced, and it's my breathing that goes if I speed up....

I run slower than I walk, so I’d say you’re doing well! Slow and steady is the way, pace will come later.

Run at a pace you can cope with! Don't worry about reaching the 5k (if only I could follow my own advice!) it's keeping running and jogging that's the important bit.

My running is really a slow jog and marginally faster than my walking pace. I tried to go faster but I’ve now learned to jog at a pace that I can sustain for 30 minutes plus and that’ll do for now.

Of course it still counts! You are running do not worry about your speed as no matter how slow you are going it’s faster than sitting on settee! 👍

Tortoise and 🐌 pace are good. It will enable you to build up stamina as the runs get longer. The mentors are always telling us to be slow and steady as we follow the programme. Don’t be tempted to try and up the pace. Your goal on C25K is to build up to running for 30minutes and it’s not a race, so just keep at a do-able pace, and you’ll be fine!

Tortoise pace is good. You are off that couch. Slow and steady is what we advocate.
