I am a creature of habit and ran all of my pre graduation runs round the same park. Anyone else do the same?
Iβd always felt a bit wary of running somewhere else. Was I a one trick pony, could I really run somewhere different? Well tonight I did, I really donβt know why I didnβt do it before! Not the fastest of runs but I enjoyed it, propelled on by a rather bracing and welcome breeze blowing across the Mersey, still looked like a wet tomato at the end though.
I always tell my kids, βitβs good to try new things!β (Arenβt parents annoying!!) and it really is.

I tend to run the same few circuits . I did go on hol to wales on about week 5/6. Loved running on the sandy beach there. We live in Devon but our beach is very pebbly, on a slope and only have sand when itβs very low tide.
That place looks lovely for a run! And it looks flat - I like flat!!
I ran at 6.00am today and looked like a wet beetroot when I finished!π
You know, Iβve never actually looked in a mirror after a run, I just usually collapse on the sofa, but I asked my wife the other day if I go bright red when Iβm running and she said βohhhhhh yesβ. πβΊοΈ actually now I think about it, she was a bit quick in her reply. π€ she could have tried to sugar coat it a bit for me. π
It is good to try new things... and you've done a few with the programme! ππ
I drove out to a local canal at the weekend to run the tow path. It was nice... busier than my normal routes and I was very conscious how sweaty etc I must have been but it was a nice change.
I'm glad you're finding it easy to keep getting out there!
Looks lovely! Wish I had water to run alongside. There is a canal nearby, might try that soon. I definitely think new routes help. I ran the same stretch of railway line for 6 weeks. Ready for new routes now!
There is something comforting about the same, familiar route and knowing whatβs coming and Iβll probably continue to do most runs in the park because itβs convenient. Definitely good to push on out of our comfort zones and try new routes though. Enjoy your next consolidation run ππ»ββοΈ
Ooh! That looks lovely. My railway line track which Iβve been running alongside, is so grotty, I think Iβll have to find somewhere new, bit worried that oncoming train drivers might mistake my face for a stop light. Go you for your next run. π
You should visit! You would hardly recognise New Brighton either, loads of redevelopment in the last few years. Iβm not a native but been here 20 years now, love Liverpool and the Wirral too π
I do come back to see my Dad and sometimes my brother but itβs about 5-6 hrs drive up and I never get chance to sight see. Either straight back down south or up to the Lakes. Would love to sneak up once and do the memories!
Well done for trying a new route! I also run the same place which is a large park, but I change my route around it or I did before the heat has forced me into the shade of the trees along the riverside! I'm too superstitious to change it now that I am due to start week 9 but maybe after graduation I will take your lead and venture away from my safety net!!!
