Survived my first run!

This morning I decided I needed to get myself into shape. I’ve got three months until the end of my maternity leave and I’ve probably never been so unhealthy.

A group of neighbours invited me for a run/brisk walk this week and I thought I’d better do a bit of pre-run training so I don’t embarrass myself with my terrible physical condition. I wasn’t hopeful before I started as I haven’t run at all since school.

I was concerned that I found the first run difficult and was clock watching, but by the third 60-second run I was getting into the swing of it. I was amazed at how much ground I covered: I had to add a little loop onto my planned walk. Most amazing of all was when Sarah told me I’d run for 8 minutes in total: I haven’t done anything like that for maybe 20 years.

I had a little smile to myself when I finished.
