Hello may be a silly question but I am totally new to this, did my first run last night rest day today then run tomorrow night. It says to rest muscles but I was going to do a walk tonight will this be ok?

In short your rest days only mean a rest from running. Other types of exercise including gardening are encouraged

The guide, referred to by misswobble , is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and it explains that the rest day is crucial, but only from impact exercise. Any non impact exercise you do on a non run day will ultimately make you a better runner.
