Hey I'm Amanda I'm 36 years old and new to this in so many ways. Never been a distance runner, did track in school for sprints. I'm going through week 2, barely... I can't seem to do the 1 min 30 without stopping 10 second from the end! I'm so frustrated and a little embarrassed. Reading alot of great motivation on here. Going to keep on this week until I can get passed this time, and then I'll continue forward from there!

Stuck on week 2
Good for you Amanda, just keep going and youβll get there. I think most of us have been where you have been but this programme really works!
Youβre in the right place, you can do this πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπππ
I am almost certain that the issue will be you running too fast. When people say 'running' on this forum, it actually means jogging just fast enough so that both feet are off the floor at the same time. I went for a run (jog) the other evening and my husband kept up with me, walking. And on a previous run my son jogged in front of me, BACKWARDS, shouting encouragement. So I am slow π€£ Go as slow as you can, then slow some more. Then you'll do it. This programme is about stamina - speed comes later. Don't be disheartened, you'll smash this next time! π
Hi I was dreading week 2 I get out of breath so easily but I slowed myself right down and completed the running . I did Bootcamp but havenβt for about 2 yrs now , there as long as you keep moving doesnβt matter how slow you can do it π
Going to give it a try. I really feel like I'm going at a very slow jog. Thanks for the kind words.
I second oldwheezer69.
Look forward to reading your next post.
Just block out the sprinter in you and enjoy your new slow and steady happy pace and slower, conversational pace not gasping.
Notice this is your first post.
Have you had time to read the FAQ Posts.Interesting and many tips. Also look at the foot of each post for previous info on the subject.ππ
Hope this helps.π
Enjoy your journey.πππ
I havent had time no. Going to slow down this snail pace to even more and see how it works out. Thanks for the words.
Tbae I love that, "slow and steady happy pace"!!! That will be my new mantra when jogs get tough! π€£
Yep, sounds like you only need a fraction more to get you those extra 10 seconds so just going a tiny bit slower will get you there π
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
The guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
It explains about easy conversational pace, which is probably a lot slower than you are running at present.
Enjoy your journey.
Hi Amanda,
I believe that your issue may be that as someone that has a tendency towards short distance and sprints, like I have, you feel the need to power through.
As is often repeated on this forum: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOO SLOW! This is something it took me a while to get right...
Some people walk faster than they run, especially at first.
Another thing that is repeated lots on here is to trust the programme.
Good luck.
Awesome that you've got started!!
I'm another Amanda and I'm also 36.
It sounds like its a battle of brain vs legs going on? I think once you get hold of that, and are able to smash that week 2 by telling your legs to just keep going despite the discomfort, you're going to do great!!
Brisk walks or another activity on non-running days will also help!
