Gait analysis today

Popping into my local running shop to have my gait analysed today. Ankle is still sore so don't want to risk making it worse. I've not run for a week and I'm really missing it. Hopefully will get sorted today and get back to the program soon.

If your ankle is sore and you can't run, your gait analysis will not be accurate. After all, you will be required to run in order for them to figure it all out. I had to wait until my ankle was fully 'operational' and pain free.

Good point. Guess depends whether sore or limping. If you cant put weight in it properly it will change your gait a lot

They should sort you out. Hopefully it's a sound place and not just using a treadmill/camera combo to flog expensive trainers. Top tip: if they're not completely comfy out of the box say no. And if someone says you need to break them in, go elsewhere. Buy some decent sox tho. Good luck!

Well I've had it done and it was just a treadmill and camera/laptop. She said my shoes were ok and at no point did she try and sell me anymore. Rest and physio is what she recommended but I was in there literally 10 minutes. I can book a physio appointment through work so that's what I intend to do next....

Mine lasted 30 min (running and tests), then we picked the shoes, then another 30min or so for insoles fitting. They had them tailor cut to fit my shoes and feet. Out of 4 pairs of shoes the one that felt the best were the cheapest. I went to a place that wasn't a regular shoe shop, they are dedicated to running and all staff are current or ex competitive runners. Went there because I wanted to avoid the repeat of my knee and ankle injuries, and for over a year I've had none, and have recently completed HM.

Would it be worth trying W1R1 to see how it feels? The ankle isnt particularly painful I just know it isn't "right" if that makes sense. I can walk normally but it feels tight and I get a twinge every now and then

Yes, that's how mine felt. I ignored it and carried on running and the whole thing then flared up onto another level. Then it was around 13 weeks of no running, plus paid visits to a physio. Please try and avoid that if possible.

I think I'll take the advice. It's just so frustrating not being able to carry on when it was going so well. Better safe than sorry though.
