Rest days..ha ha.. :)Swim or cycle.. climb or walk... Yoga or Pilates.. strength and stamina training....
So much to choose from.. many of us have an exercise regime for each day not just rest days.. and I have a two day workout regime... with my small runner in training... (granddaughter) which I am thinking of marketing !!!
I'm trying to work that out. I haven't done exercise for so long. I've come to the conclusion that something fun would be best, but has to be something with strength and flexibility too.
For me it’s 3 rounds of golf a week, with walks (treadmill or outside) on other non-c25k days. I do at least 12,500 steps a day, including at least 30 mins of “elevated heart rate” exercise. Been gradually building all this up since retiring at end of last year... c25k/running is the latest addition to “the curriculum”! (and the bike will be put into action shortly too)
One walk day but not far, only about 5000 steps. Nothing else unless I’m on school holiday when I cycle sometimes. Life is busy enough without adding more!
With work and life commitments, I find it difficult sometimes to even fit the 3 runs in, let alone anything else. But the way I look at it, any type of exercise, however little, is a positive step to a healthier lifestyle.
On two of my off days I climb, slide, swing, crawl and play hide and seek with my 2 yr old granddaughter. It is tougher than the run days. According to my Fitbit I also do outdoor cycling, that’s pushing a baby stroller to you and me. It doesn’t even give me credit for heavy shopping and a screaming toddler on board. Lol!
I'm doing crossfit. I do that 3 times a week but only run twice a week so it's gonna take me slightly longer to graduate but I figure 5 workouts a week is plenty! I highly recommend crossfit with running.....provides the perfect combination of strength and cardio
I swim once a week and have just started the NHS Strength and Flex podcasts on my other days.
I do my running on the treadmill & then combine it with some resistance-sometimes the cross trainer as well depending on how hard I have found the run! I don't do anything on the days in between apart from walk to &from work - which is only about a 10 min walk - I'm very lucky!
