Naked for 20 minutes.....The Thing!

So today was W5R3. It was supposed to have been on Tuesday but that was a public holiday here in CZ so as nobody was working on the Tuesday then Monday evening suddenly erupted into impromptu beers and BBQ's. Not a lot was going to happen on Tuesday. My average daily step count is 11-12,000. By 1pm on Tuesday it was 432.

So today was the day. W5R3 last year was 5am around the early empty streets of Pasadena. Today it was to be up the hill in the forests.

Now here is the daft thing. By the end of the program last year I was running up the same lane and forests for 40 minutes no problem but here I was having to run for 20 minutes. 20 minutes!! This year I am running naked. and before you conjure up some sickening image of a pile of molten candle wax with ginger hair and running shoes slithering along the lane like some 1950's drive in horror movie, I mean I am doing the program this year with no music. No headphones at all. And I actually prefer it and find the running easier.

When I play golf I find it very calming (until I take a shot) walking around the course with my own thoughts. Time to have a clear out and sort out away from the computer screens and emails. Therapeutic. And I dont wear headphones when I play golf so why should I when running?

I hear all the nature around me. Things to take my mind off the run. So if you maybe run listening to music. Maybe give it a try without. Go running naked.

Just keep your clothes on !

I wondered where you’d been, now I know skulking naked in forests. A friend of mine actually met a naked man running in the forest in Holland - I wonder if you are related to him? Well done you and I’ve tried the naked thing, all I can hear is my rasping breath and my swearing! We all do what we have to to keep at this running thing. It’s brilliant that you’re back out there

I read your post yesterday and decided to leave the headphones behind this morning. In fact I figured I’d leave the phone behind completely which got me a telling off from my better half. What if you’d been attacked she asked? She’s not seen me running but rest assured that people tend to step aside when 6ft of sweaty, red faced me is bearing down on them.

Anyway, it was inspired. Six thirty in the morning, the birds were tweeting and it was just me and my thoughts. A great way to run. Will still use the headphones when mostly by roads but running by the canal like I did today no other soundtrack is required.

So thank you for the post. It inspired me to try it 😀

Glad you enjoyed it. It's a whole new world out there isnt it. As for 6 foot, red faced and sweaty, that is just me in my normal state.

Have a great weekend.

Maybe it is different for me as it is through the fields and forests so lots of nature. But at least now you have had that naked moment. :)
