And into W3...

I repeated a run from W2 on Saturday because I didn't feel ready and I read that there's no harm in doing that from time to time, especially if you are worried about injuries. So yesterday was W3R1, and it went much better than expected. I have discovered that if nobody can see me I can settle into a very slow jog and keep going much longer than if I worry about looking like I'm er... running. Which is why I stick to a little riverside path where not many people go, so I'm not self-conscious. I keep thinking I might be cheating because I am moving forwards more slowly than when I walk! But my heart and lungs (and my fitness tracker) say otherwise. It's still much harder work than walking and I'm always relieved when I'm told to slow down (speed up?) to a walk :)

I know exactly what you mean, I was so self-conscious when I started, I was running in full length trousers, and only ran late at night. Since then I've got a lot more nonchelant - I'll still running incredibly slowly and am still, alas, incredibly overweight - but I'm even wearing shorts. Out doors. In public. During daylight. Especially with the longer runs, you really do get into a 'zone' and have to find yourself concentrating either on your breathing or some distacting yourself from how far/quickly you're running, and frankly, I stopped caring what I looked like. Believe me, baggy shorts an a cheap football top looks a lot less daft than some of the neon lycra jobs I'm seeing others run it.

I would just like to be able to extend my stride so I'm actually running - my body forgets how old and fat it is. It thinks it's still a fit teenager and I have really hurt myself before when I go with that feeling.

You take this program at whatever suits you best... if that means repeating occasionally then that’s fine. You’re doing great! Onwards and upwards!👍
