Spare tyre

Just completed w5R1. As I was running today I was very conscious of other svelte joggers moving effortlessly in lycra, whilst my spare tyre wobbled above my tracksuit bottoms.

Obviously running on its own will not shift this muffin top. What would be a good next step in losing belly fat ? I'm happy to change diet as well as lifestyle, just want something that will work to get rid of the paunch.

A lot of people on here have had success with doing the program and using My Fitnesss Pal, both are free and have a moderated approach to getting fit and losing weight which helps in the long run. You want to lose slowly and Consistently, fast weight loss is not a good idea as you up your distances. I would go for a steady loss while still putting in some good stuff for you muscles to build back up. Good luck.

You're on week 5 and spare tyre or not, doing brilliantly 😊 I've just finished week 2 so got a way to go to catch up with you.

What made me start running was the realisation after watching a 10k that its a very inclusive activity . . . . All shapes, sizes, ages, genders were participating and having loads of fun . . . .no body shaming, no ageism - just a wonderful euphoric joy when they crossed the finishing line

Despite what the celeb diet plans say, you can't target fat loss in a specific area by diet or exercise. I'm no expert but a diet of unprocessed food has helped me lose 3 stones since New Year. Processed and ready made food frequently have an unbelieveable amount of hidden sugars which sabotages weight loss. I'm not svelte but I feel fab and full of energy.

Remember some slim jims are actually skinny-fat because of poor diet!

Keep running and don't let me catch you up until you've graduated! 😊x x

Well done on your progress... I know this feeling and core training as well as diet makes a huge difference. Most importantly as you run your confidence will grow as will your body image....

Well done on getting to wk5👍😀

I'm just about to start wk2 so all you people that are weeks ahead of me are the ones I think make it look easy and bounce along like spring gazelles, while I on the other hand feel like I'm running down the road with someone elses legs that I can't control😂🤣

You're doing it that is the main thing. Week 5 and things start heating up more running then walking all the time.

Being generally more active in your day to day life will help too.

Don't worry about other people
