Got up and went running again this morning, same time as I have every day I’ve run so far. But now, four hours later, I’m feeling so tired. I feel as though I could fall asleep at my desk. Don’t know why.
So tired. : Got up and went running again this... - Couch to 5K
So tired.
oh no I’m so sorry! how long have you been feeling like this? as you may need to speak to a dr about it? obvs that would be up to you x
Are you eating some good breakfast? Eg porridge oats or some protein 🙂
A good diet is important at any time but when exercising especially 💪
Doing C25k is not likely to be the cause of extreme tiredness though as you’re not exerting yourself that much
Well done on completing your run Mezkate...you may just be under the weather a bit today, keep up your fluids and see how you feel. Maybe the start of a bug or something. Running usually energises you and is a great way to start your day.
If you need to, take an extra rest day or two so you are fully prepared for your next run. Agree with MissWobble about breakfast too.. Take care 😊x
I'm like that most run days. I think my lupus has a fair amount to do with it though.
I used to feel exhausted at work on the days I did my runs (always in the morning)! I think this lasted for the first 4-5 weeks for me. In retrospect, I can now see that it was nothing more sinister than not being used to exercise! As I got fitter (and now that I run regularly), I actually feel more energised after a run, and in life generally!
Make sure you get to bed nice and early the night before a planned run, drink plenty of water the day before you run as well as the day of your run, and have a good hearty breakfast after a run. If the symptoms of extreme fatigue do not disappear within the next few weeks, go get checked out by your doctor.
Take care,
Sadie x
I think it's definitely a shock to the body in the first bit of the programme - especially if you really have been on the couch. I am finding myself reaching for an extra cup of coffee now and then and am sleeping better than usual. Are you drinking lots of water? It helps EVERYTHING work better in your body - so step one might be making sure you're well hydrated on running and non-running days alike.
