So yesterday I completed week 5. Since I started this I’ve been going out every other day (no 2 day rest days). So as you can imagine I’ve been moving through the app quickly. At the start of run 3 I didn’t think I’d be able to to do it. When I heard I was halfway through I felt amazing as then realised I could do it as I wasn’t even slightly exhausted from it. When I got told I had 2 minutes left I felt so good as I was almost finished and I did finish... But as it told me to slow up I didn’t want to (I did stop running), I wanted to keep going. I wasn’t tired at the end of it.

Now my question is to those who have been running for some time now. Do you go out everyday or every other day? And if everyday what day do you not go out so you can recover?

You need the rest days for your body to recover as running is a high impact sport, I think I've read that you should have been running at least a year before you run on consecutive days otherwise you might injure yourself. You could try strength and conditioning work on days you aren't running, there's some stuff on the NHS website nhs.uk/Livewell/strength-an...

Do not run on consecutive days... the C25K programme has laid this down and the rest days are non negotiable..

Loads to do on those rest days.. walk, swim, cycle or climb.. garden, Yoga or do Pilates... just do not run.

I have been running for nearly three years since graduation, ( running up to just over 10K), and am about to start a HM training plan.. and I have just..only just started popping in some extra 1K runs in on my rest day.. and I am talking so slowly, you would not believe:)

It is not recommended for new runners to run on consecutive days until they have been running regularly for a minimum of six months. runnersworld.com/for-beginn...

It takes many months to build your running musculature and frankly you will become a better runner overall by cross training on your rest days, at this stage, rather than running every day. Running is not just about your legs.

It is all in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
