My sixth run after finishing C25K so I thought it would be a good time to get off the pavement and onto a trail. Picked what looked like a nice circular route out of the village, up to the top road and back in on the tarmac.
Generally really good but the hill was steeper than expected and coincided with a narrow waterlogged section lined by brambles. Didn’t manage to avoid either mud or brambles - legs covered in scratches and mud. Probably need to leave it a few weeks to dry out before trying again.
First time ditching the Lycra for sensible shorts and I actually stopped a few times. Realised today I’ve been treating it as mandatory to keep moving at all times. But it is supposed to be fun too so today I had stops for a photo, negotiating a flooded section and because the hill nearly killed me.

Quite liberating isn’t it. I was thinking how nice it looked with the sun coming up and started to try and get my phone out whilst still running. And it came to me, you could just stop for a bit 😀
Definitely will be lots of fun on the trails once the mud has gone.
I’ll definitely be back there when it dries out. And the route I planned on Strava worked a treat (in that it actually existed) do more of that too to explore new routes.
