Week 8

First time posting here. Can’t quite believe I’ve made it to Week 8! I’m 61yrs old and have never been a runner or sporty so feeling pleased with myself. However, my legs are really starting to ache now (been pretty good up until this point). I did run 1 on Monday and can’t decide whether to go out today, Wednesday, or wait another day. Will the aching ease off once I start running or is it best to rest? I’ve been doing a few stretches after the warm down walk. Maybe I need to do more? Any tips/advice welcome. X

You're doing great. I'd probably have another rest day myself then pick it up tomorrow.

Personally I swear by massage rollers or regular massage (or both!) Your muscles are working much harder than they are used to and need some looking after.

👍😊

Firstly, well done to you! Secondly rest days should help and I also feel I benefit from having a soak in the bath to help relax my leg muscles.

Welcome and a huge well done! An extra rest day ( or more) would do no harm. Dynamic stretches before and stretching well afterwards when your muscles are warm should help. No doubt, someone more technically savvy and experienced than me will come along and give you hyperlinks for these - or they may be in the pinned post below if you scroll down. 😀

Hello ! I would recommend that you do indeed have another rest day, especially with this snowy icy spell we’re having.Well done! 😀😀
