Getting there ........... slowly

So, Now finished week 8 and feeling good. My only disappointment is that my 28 minute run only covered 4K. I’m fairly certain that my speed won’t increase enough to kit the 5k target with only one week to go. However I’m sure if I were 10 years younger things would be different so trying not to beat myself up about it

It’s actually very rare for people to finish C25K with a 5k/30 minute run, so don’t be so hard on yourself! In fact, the aim of the programme is to get yourself to running 30 mins continuously, with no focus on distance at all. You are doing great.

I graduated in Nov 17 and still cannot run 5k in 30 mins. Nor do I give a hoot! But with consistent 5k runs, my time has come down from 36 mins to 33 mins, without even trying. And I feel stronger and fitter, which for me is the ultimate goal.

Slow and steady keeps you fit and healthy and injury free - follow that path. And as you get further into your running career, you could consider some speed training or longer distances if you like - but not until you have been running consistently for a while.

Just week 9 to go! Keep up the great work. 👏👏👏

All of this true for me too! Disappointment should not play any part in your graduation - be proud of what you've achieved. And if you want to run a 30min 5k then you've got a goal to help you keep going after graduation. 😊

Forget the 5K! Just enjoy the last runs to the podium.. 30 minutes is all it takes:)

Slow is perfect... not pushing too hard, relaxing and letting those newly found running legs find their own happy pace:)

Only approximately 10% of graduates on this forum hit the 5k in 30 minutes, so you are in good company and I bet you are faster and fitter than eight weeks ago.

It's all been said. Don't get hung up on that number. If you can run for 30 mins you're a champion 👍🌟
