On to week 2!

First run done - I’m amazed how big a step up 90s running is from 60s 😳 Shin pain is still there throughout the run (not too painful but noticeable with each foot landing) but is easing as soon as the running stops and is just a dull ache after time.

Warm up very well... and stretch after every run. try to land lightly and gently. We do tend to thump a little when we first start:)

The phrase ‘fairy elephant’ wouldn’t be a bad description of my running style 😂

How are your shoes?

At some point on the App, Laura (or whoever) says that a passerby on the other side of the hedge, should be unable to tell if you are running or walking (why they are lurking behind the hedge is never explained....). Try and keep this in mind. No bouncing.

Shoes feel fine. Had gait analysis before starting (I’m worried about hurting myself!!) so I’ve got a really comfy pair of brooks that are helping to correct my ankle pronation.

Ok ..... I’m definitely going too quickly then. Just looked up online and average walking pace is 12min/km. I’m averaging 8.5min/km for the combined jog and walk.

Time to sloooooow down. Any tips on how to do it?!

No not the speed, rather the bounciness (if you see what I mean)

Got you now! Ok - time to jog less bouncily 😜

Don’t panic that’s what your rest days are for. Don’t over stride, that advice definitely helped me at the start 👍

Well done getting to week two. I am about to start week six. I totally get what your saying about the jump in length of time but trust me. In a couple of weeks 90secs will be an easier run to complete. Just keep at it. I think it's sounds like what some call "shin splints"? Hope it eases soon. Well done again and keep going.
