Got through it!

After not managing to complete my first attempt at starting the plan, I got through it this morning. Breathing much better (after remembering my ventolin!). Feel very heavy running though - feels like the whole street is shaking!! Felt great at the end though! 😁

Hold onto that great feeling - it'll help you through when things feel challenging.

Just keep getting out there is all you need to do to make it get easier. 😊

I started in May last year. A 55 year old woman. Week 1 hurt like hell thought I was dying. Now do 10K runs without a thought, although still not fast. Stick to it the plan is great and works.

So glad to hear breathing got better. I think you've got a great attitude, you said you'd try again after your practice run, and you did. That's half the battle. When you get to the end and look back it's all actually a mental thing more than anything else.

I don't know if you're doing it via the app or the podcast? I did the latter and I believe that some of the advice Laura gives isn't in the app scripts. Anyway quite early on she says "I never regretted going for a run". She's right, even the really hard ones, the not giving up does give you the feeling you've just had at the end. I held on to that idea and used it to drag myself out many a time when the gremlins were trying to subvert me.

I’m using the app so I can play my music but I did use the podcast to do a practice (walk) a few weeks before, just to find out what the programme was about. I will keep that thought in my head about never regretting going for a run when I’m feeling less motivated !!

I’m planning on repeating week 1 starting on Tuesday because I only completed 2 runs last week due to the breathing problems. Im trying to think about it week by week - at this point I can’t think about running for 5 minutes never mind 30 - seems like a distant dream!!
