Have you tried using a decongestant like Sudafed? Or maybe a nose spray? I found both helped when I was in a similar predicament.

Hope you feel back to your usual self soon.

I was given Beconase last year so am heading off to the chemist to get some more today...thankyou 😊

So sorry to hear that. Have you tried nasal rinsing? It sounds weird but it has made such a difference for me.

I was a martyr to sinusitis for years with constant sinus infections and nosebleeds after colds, requiring antibiotics to clear them. I tried every OTC medicine available and they were all pretty ineffective. Three years ago, during a particularly horrendous episode, I read about nasal rinsing, which involves squirting salty water up each nostril in turn. Sounds more unpleasant than it is (though I did watch a few YouTube videos on the method before I had the nerve to do it). I use it when I start a cold or just if I’m feeling β€˜stuffed up’.

Since using it. I have not had a single sinus infection! Once you get used to the rinsing process, it’s a cheap, easy solution and very effective, in my experience. No drugs involved, just a sachet of salts.I use the NeilMed kit which you can buy at most chemists or online.

I can only speak from my own experience but this simple remedy was 100% effective for me. It feels odd at first, but after 3-4 goes, you get the hang of it, so do persevere. It also seemed to stop the nosebleeds which would happen at all kinds of random, inconvenient times - on the bus, at the supermarket checkout, in the shower, in a restaurant, driving ... !!

β€’ in reply toLimawhite

I have read quite alot of good things about them so definately worth a shot.it was only a couple of months ago i had the last one & i guess theres only so many times you can take antibiotics!!!

Chin up Claire - the pavements will still be there when you feel better!! Wrap up warm and stay indoors, you'll be back out there sooner than you think.

β€’ in reply to

Thankyou...i really hope so!!!

Oh, Claire, what rotten luck. I do hope it clears soon. i always use echinacea at the first hint of something coming on and 9 times out of 10 it stops it in its tracks. Might be worth still getting some to alleviate some of the nastiness. It really does work: I have friends with medical backgrounds who use it.

Meanwhile it isn't looking hopeful for me either today: the snow is now greasy slush - worse than ice. Plus Mic woke me at 3ish going to the loo (coffee addict who drinks coffee before bed) and every time I tried to get back to sleep, he snored...no idea why as he doesnt do it all the time. so I've had about 4 hours' sleep :(

Somewhere, some time, we will run free and wild again (or at least puff manically along) xx

Sorry to hear that and I hope you feel better soon. I sympathise with the sinus misery you are enduring. I suffered terribly with reactions to swimming in chlorinated pools until I discovered a nose clip that worked for me, plus eventually learned how to 'mouth breath'. I almost gave up. It was like having permanent flu and I was a slave to the nettipot.

I find echinacea really works for me in both keeping colds at bay and reducing severity when they arrive.

β€’ in reply toPm3eak

Thankyou very much 😊 i will have to get some ASAP!!!

Oh no! Poor you... Take care of that awful sinusitis (I can see a lot of members have already advised a lot of remedis). Keep warm and take the time to treat yourself to something nice!

β€’ in reply toAnthie

Ah thankyou 😊

I have just been out & bought half the contents of Tescos pharmacy so some of it had better help!!!😁

How horrible! Sinus pain is really awful. Have you been to the doctors because if it’s an infection you can have antibiotics before it gets worse 🀧I hope you feel better really soon xx

β€’ in reply toBridget007

Hi Claire, hope you are recovering and will soon be back on the pavement!
