5k, slow, with walks

It's been a bad two weeks -- Wednesday was my first run since Sunday *the week before* and I had a series of tech mixups :-(, and felt very unfit. So getting out today was a big challenge. I set my zombie mission for 45 minutes, and it was pretty gruelling, until I relaxed. I walked several times, maybe five or six times, but not for long periods. I finished 5k in 43 minutes, not bad for me with walk breaks... well anyway, the point is I got out there.

Monday next.

Good for you! Any run is better than no run at all! I've had some slow, not very inspiring runs after not running for a month with asthma/sinus problems - going out without my phone to track distance etc helped as I didn't feel I was under pressure to achieve anything. Keep going!

Great! Did you enjoy it?

In parts. When I finally started going I did, and remembered WHY I like to run.

Very well done for getting out there after a difficult couple of weeks - big congratulations for that but also for doing 5k :)

Oh ejvc, I'd wondered where you'd been. Great you got out there and did some zombie running, 43 minutes is a great amount. Hope everything's alright - or that it will be - whatever Life is doing! x

Yes, sorry I have been out of touch! Stupid of me as you guys are so motivating!

not stupid, totally natural. It's easy for life to just get in the way! The forum and running are always here for you whenever you can, though x

Hey Elizabeth. You got out, you ran 5k - that's fab. Lovely to hear from you, hope all is well. x

Yes, all is ok. My 10 year old is having some difficulties in school so that my afternoon running time vanished for a bit is all.

Sorry to hear that and hope all gets sorted soon. x

I ran with those zombies yesterday too. I always amaze myself with how much I can carry. I picked up a tool box, two mobile phones, trousers, a baseball bat, bandages...good job I had the tool box to put it all in.

Exactly ejvcruns ...you were out there, end of....you’re not unfit at all, you are fit as a fiddle & I love sharing your runs with you...including the walking parts...keep those zombies on their toes x

Thanks mummycav! Now of course tonight I'm starting to feel a cold coming on. Blah. And it snowed again. But all will be well, I will run tomorrow a bit unless I'm decked with fever...

Thank you! I really do notice the difference when I'm not running regularly. I like it better when it's regular, everything just works better. I don't want irregular to be the new normal.

I doubt it will, you are too committed, things will get back on track soon, and you'll be ass-kicking zombies like nobody's business!

You’re so right, the point is you got out there! Any exercise is better than none. I understand how you feel as I can say this to you much easier than I can believe it when it’s myself! But we know it’s true, you got out there and you’ll soon be back to where you were, if you want to be, just by going out. But besides, that’s a pretty good time for running and walking!! Well done to you, you’re a winner!

Well, I didn't even notice the first kilometre really, and I passed a few points where in the c25k I was absolutely struggling -- one nice thing about running the same route is connecting to the self I was in the past running... and then I got to thinking about running while I was out in New Mexico... and other times -- it's really a kind of a memory machine too...

I like that. So I do also feel that I've progressed so much since I started in late July. I mean, less than 6 months!

Well done on your run - it’s tough this time of year. I haven’t been out for over a week now - decided not to be too hard on myself though - I’ve realised I really do not like running where it’s so muddy or in the dark. I need to enjoy it or I’ll stop altogether - fingers crossed for some cold bright sunshine on weds or thurs.
