Probably tried to do too much as maybe ran a bit fast on Saturday, took too much out and did not have enough recovery time - ran again yesterday after a day's rest and tweaked calf muscle again. Same injury as earlier in the training so will have couple of days off which worked in the past before going out again.
Shame and seems to be 2 steps forward and 1 back but that is better than other way around - have to learn to listen to my body I think. Still at least I know it is only a temporary setback the same as before and I will be back soon

If the calf muscle tweaks...listen to it.. if you check any of my past posts re calf tweaks... it may encourage you to rest for a few more days than two...
Thanks for the input - probably won't run now until Sunday at the earliest as traveling back to UK on Thursday and won't have opportunity before then. I'm not really in any rush and will just take my time to get to full health first
Hi morrirm, I'm sorry to hear about your calf. I am currently on the IC with the same problem and two days has not been long enough to fix it, ( tho' of course it will vary from one injury to another.) I am applying heat (hot water bottle) when I can and doing gentle calf stretching exercises. Just listen to watch your car is telling you - mine is talking loud and clear! Roll on being back in those running shoes. 😄
Stopped as soon as it happened so as not to aggravate and make matters worse - have been applying muscle rub and keeping leg elevated, and like you trying to stretch out regularly. It will take as long as it takes....
Speed should only be relevant when you are 20 and a member of the National Team. They would expect you to run fast.
In our part of the business it's all about joy and health. You can only stay healthy if you steer clear of injuries and one of the ways of doing that is running slow and steady. You remember Armstrong jumping on the Moon? Try slower than that.
As you get stronger and more resilient with time, you will improve on your running times as well. But you should never get too hung up on PB or trying to run 2.5min per km, that might bring some disappointments.
