W8r2 - This run was the first one I struggled with. Physically not so much of a problem-don’t get me wrong I’m still granny jogging!-but mentally my ‘bad monkey’ was sitting on my shoulder constantly sabotaging my efforts. “Your laces are too tight “, “you need to stop for a comfort break”, “you’re hungry”, “you’ve still got hours to run”, “just stop and go home” etc etc
I really wanted to give in, in fact it was a struggle to even get started.
Because my head was in a mess, I left Laura behind and listened instead to a podcast about Scotland outdoors. It really helped having a change and it helped drown out ‘bad monkey’s’ rantings!
Thankfully I got through it and I hope I’ll be back to my usual self for w8r3. Then only 3 more runs before I graduate. What a wonderful Christmas gift to myself!

Oh, you & me both! Was going to try & make a half-decent go of W8 R3 today after my gremlin/monkey struggles with the first 2, but have gone down with a sinus-y cold, so feel it's probably best to pass. But hoping to kick them into the long grass v soon, so that I too can graduate by Xmas. Here's hoping! Wishing you a storming last few runs! x
Well done those monkeys/ gremlins tend to do this , when they think you are getting too good at this running lark they get worried and start trying different tactics! Don’t let them win!
Well done for shutting down those pesky monkeys! I've stopped using my iPod and am enjoying looking around and listening to the sounds around me. Keep going, you can do it!
