Week 4 running the gauntlet of over 'friendly' dogs

Well run 2 was exciting today. After a very late night out on Saturday I wondered if I'd just roll over and cry during today's run. But undeterred by the weekend's excess I set off today. About 2 minutes into the first 5 minute run I was greeted by a large German shepherd dog, him and his farmer owner looking amusedly at me running ( it's not the done thing out here in the sticks you know). The friendly dog decided to jump on me and take me down, luckily I'm strong and not scared of dogs so I shouted at it and continued. Then the friendly dogs' pals decided I was up to something bad and starting running after me barking. I couldn't decide whether to up the pace ( there was a huge hill coming up) or if that would make it worse , so I stopped and confronted them and then ran backwards to check they weren't following me. Arrgh. And then ran on a bit more at the end of the 5 minutes up the steepest of hills to try and make up. I know I should have paused it, but I didn't really have time. Still, it makes life interesting eh? Onwards and upwards. I'm dreading week 5!!!!!

Irresponsible dog owners really do wind me up.

They have a legal responsibility to keep their animals under control.

My last but one injury was caused by an overexcited dog barging into me, preventing me from running for a couple of weeks.

I love dogs.........but some owners need putting down.

Rant over.......

Don't dread any run. Trust the plan. It works. Read this healthunlocked.com/couchto5... It has helped others.

Relax and go slow.

I love dogs and meet loads of em, thankfully all lovely. Some boisterous but they seem to spot a friendly face and want to lick it

Well done Moom! Keep going, slow but sure, and week 5 will be fine. Tick!

Hopefully no dogs for Week 5, because you are ready for the runs... :)

So avoid canine companions and just head out, slow and steady! Well done you!!
