Running much more - week 4

Well, I'm absolutely gobsmacked! I managed to shoe-horn in W4R1 between my office job, kids Easter play rehearsals and the need for a sensible mealtime... really, there was absolutely no time to do a run... and it was snowing... and my joggers were covered in mud and in the washing machine... but I felt utterly compelled to get my trainers on and face the challenge... there was no way I was missing that run.

And it was easy - I wasn't really out of breath and I definitely looked like a jogger and not someone in need of an ambulance. My legs didn't and don't ache particularly. And I'd walked 5 miles to and from the office today already (and 2 weeks ago that in itself would have been more than enough). 16 minutes of running out of 30... Amazing!

What's even more amazing is that after my next run, I will be more than half way through this life-changing programme.

My very best and warmest wishes to those of you taking this journey with me.

Tell your local ambulance service that they can stand down, you got this!

Great running... those easy ones are so special... easy run... that was almost as crazy a combination of words as fun run not so long ago huh? Have fun with run 2.

What a lovely post.

I now understand running, it’s totally addictive. Well done on fitting it in an alreay pack day! Enjoy the rest of week 4 :-)

Utterly addictive! I'm also getting very close to the purchase of something dayglo! :)

Dayglo is compulsory as a runner or at least so very jazzy patterns. Also makes you run better...

Yep. I started with (hidden) socks, but the urge is there....

It's the socks that are tempting me... I've got 4 pairs in grey from Decathlon... very nice... but they do dayglo yellow and pink and they are very tempting! :)

I got some long green-blue-orange ones from Hilly as a present and that set the tone! Plus they are really, really comfortable. Now tempted by some with toes... 😄 ... but that may have to wait for another present to be due. Go for that dayglo!

Well done! I did W4R1 yesterday but I am struggling with motivation for Run 2, found it hard! Congrats though, great stuff :)

Hope run 2 is much easier than run 1. I feel like it does get easier to do the later runs of a week as your body is more used to it. :)

Stick with it Sarah469 I have my second to come. If running alone use music or try and find company to run it. Actually looking forward to it hoping the body holds up. You have done it once you can do again.

I just ran w4r1 yesterday too! Felt easy but one of the 5 mins was downhill (the first was uphill though!) I found it fine but feel a little like I’ve cheated because of this!!!

No cheating there... 1 downhill and 1 uphill = my two runs on the flat. :)

Well done you!. The only thing shocking about this post is the proximity that Easter must be to us already :O)

I’m new at this! I’m just finished week 4 run 1, I’m surprise I got through with it. I’m nervous for the next run, especially nervous about the coming weeks.

Don't be nervous! If you can get to week 4 you've got everything you need to get you to week 9. :)
