Week 4 finished with all toes functioning but regretting my weekend love affair with Katy and Old Rosie ( the lovely ciders that is )

The recent injury to Technicolour Toe held me back somewhat but the extra rest has seen him recover quite well. I think toenail itself is doomed so I'll need to manage that. Overall I feel a bit frustrated that I will not be as far along the programme as I wanted to me by my 60th (next week). Hey ho.

My son and his girlfriend came home for a rare long weekend with us and I felt the after effects of the extra indulgence while running. Indeed, I swear I could feel them jiggling up and down! I have been not drinking much for several weeks and have been eating conservatively, doing plenty of other exercise and strength training, holding my weight steady at about 93kg: I think this made me feel the sudden gluttony more acutely.

The first 3 minute run- fairly easy before- was awful. I was genuinely worried that a I might not complete the session; it was as if my legs had been filled with concrete...quite apt as my stomach was turning over and rumbling like a concrete mixer. However, the discomfort eased during the first 5 minute session and I was fine by the end...indeed, I added an extra 7 minute run after the scheduled session without too much problem.

So glad to have got this particular monkey off my back; onwards and sideways now to week 5, hopefully with no more setbacks and injuries.

Behold, the chastened cider drinker:

I have similar issues with a more formal Mr Sipsmith and his girlfriend Sapphire.... Well done on getting out, hangover running is always tough and lets be honest we should know better on indulgences... ;)

I lost a whole toe nail last night. Plaster on for runs Sea salt foot bath 🙂

If you’re slow and steady you’ll nail the runs. 👍🙂

I gave up the demon drink 😃
