W8R2 Park run

After the shock of seeing snow when I opened the curtains I headed off to the park run.

Chuffed to bits as I managed to run non stop for 33 minutes then after a 3 minute brisk walk managed to run to the finish....even picking up speed to overtake someone :) who finished 7 seconds behind me. If it hadn't been so icy I think I could have managed a faster time but took it slowly rather than ending up flat on my face.

A bit worried now as I'm not sure when I'll get out for my next run as I'm away for a few days Christmas shopping. Will see how things go...if I'm not too tired at the end of the day I will try the hotel treadmill.

Thank you. Compared to the person who finished the 5K 17:26 I'm a slow coach. When I see others jogging in the street they always look faster than me and when my husband comes in from a run and says his pace is in the 5min range I feel slow. I went out running with him once....tried to keep up with him but had to give up by the end of the road lol his brisk walking pace is my running one.

Hey I was at Finsbury Park Run this morning and as I was walking back to the tube, I heard a conversation along the lines of 'my pace was only 23 minutes today, I wasn't in the mood'...

The guy who 'won' the run did it in 16 minutes 33 seconds....

I'd need to take a taxi to do 23 minutes and a helicopter to do 16, so we are all different and you're running and that's the main thing, speed does come as we consolidate at the distance.

I have to run farther than the super fast runners as I have to start near the back and when there are over 600 runners that can be an extra 20 seconds on your time and a good 50-60 metres or more on the distance.

The independent park run near me on a Sunday is much smaller, usually less than 100 runners so when I next do that one (I'm volunteering tomorrow as it's my rest day) I hope to run it in less than 38 minutes as I did 38:21 when on week 6. I'm happy plodding along at my own pace as long as I manage to beat the old guy in his 80's who is almost walking. :)
