This is my first post, so please be gentle! I keep trying to start the c25k but never get more than a couple of runs in. My main problem- I work shifts so don’t have a routine to fit running into.
I’m sure I’m not the first person to have this problem.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to a supportive and positive forum There are people on here who work shifts and it obviously makes timetabling running more difficult, but it seems it can be done! Can you look ahead at the week ahead and find times to do your runs? Then stick to these whatever. It may mean having extra rest days but that's no bad thing. Make running your priority. Keep posting here and GOOD LUCK.
There is a lot of discipline & motivation needed in running & for me i keep reading all these posts & if you can get past the first 3weeks or so you do get to the stage that you want to get out there 3 times a week! Shifts must be hard i agree, for me i come home from work & immediately change into running gear & get out there im not a morning person but have been out at 6.45am before just to make sure run done for the day!! Think about it we are talking about 40mins a day max & thats at week 9!! Less in first few weeks. I suppose it depends how much you want to do it ,lots of positive benefits to health, great for stress & there is nothing better than the buzz & feel good factor after a run!! I wish id found c25k many yrs ago! Believe in yourself plan ahead & make it a priority 😊good luck just go for it get out there & run & mind slow & steady is good! Keep reading posts & post your runs as loads of help & tips here!😊
I work full time and have a family but have got in the routine of getting up and out at 5.50am on my run days and am back for 6.30am. I know if I didn’t run first thing I definitely wouldn’t do them when I get in after work. Definitely a morning person. I love being out and about when hardly anyone else is and it sets you up for the day. Just believe in yourself stay positive and get a routine going. You will start to enjoy running and will look forward to your next run. Believe me I never thought I’d say that 6 weeks ago! Good luck you can do it 😀
I'm lucky as I can fit my runs in in the morning before I get on with the day, but I can understand how it would be difficult with shift work. I'm guessing the best thing to do is look ahead at your shift pattern and then decide in advance when the best times are going to be to run, then stick them into your calendar or diary as part of your schedule and do your best to stick to it.
Come in the forum when you get the chance to tell us about your run, we love to hear how it's going.
I've just celebrated my first runniversary and it is really an amazing programme if you can stick with it. Good luck.
