Finding the time

So the hardest part of C25K is not the actual running, nor dealing with sore legs the next day but finding the time to actually run.

I started week 6 on Sunday with the intention of doing run 2 last night, except I'd forgotten I was out last night. So my next thought was to run to work this morning, but decided that I was far to tired to get up at 5am today. I'm out again this evening so planning on running later (probably about 11pm) when I get home. Finger's crossed I can keep to that because otherwise it will mean trying to run pushing a pram tomorrow and I won't manage to squeeze in run 3 on Friday morning.

How do you all manage to get in 3 runs a week? Especially those of you with busy lives.

Personally, being a single mum of 3 additional needs children who are regularly attending clubs and appointments and who - myself - also volunteers most days, is a leader in training with Brownies and in between offers support to disabled family members...

I usually tend to take the offspring to breakfast club then do my run once I got back before heading out to my various tasks for the day. I would normally be out and back again before most parents left the house to take their little ones to school. Typically my runs would fall Mon/Wed/Fri allowing for helping with homework on Saturday and Church on a Sunday.

I am up at 5.30 on the mornings I work to run before work. Then I run once a week on my day off after dropping the kids at school. Wouldn't be able to fit it in otherwise

That's impressive. I'm not sure I could run before work, but I have run to work a few times. But it takes some discipline and motivation to get up in time to leave an hour earlier than usual

If you can't swing 3, just do 2 this week and 3 next or even 4 (mon/weds/fri/sun). I don't always manage 3 a week, especially when social commitments get in the way 👍🏻

Wake up at five - out of the house by 5:15 , back before six - to work by 7:15 😊except the weekend when we let things slide till 5:45 . Just can’t do it otherwise

In my head that's what I tell myself I'll do, but when my alarm goes off, I think about a more appropriate time I could fit in a run, roll over and have another hour in bed. Oh how I wish I was more disciplined!

Ah so it's not just me that has this problem! I just have to examine my diary at the start of the week, choose what days/times I'm going and stick to it. Not much help really, sorry! Just interested to hear if anyone else has a better solution :D

That’s a great way to do it!

Truth be told, I think that's the only way. Booking in a run and not budging from it. Maybe add my runs get longer and I get out more often it'll become easier to set a date and time. At the moment I just get out when I can.

I’m obsessive with my diary... every little part of my schedule is in there, nothing ever forgotten, so I sit down on a Sunday evening and schedule my runs in. I can only do a week at a time as my plan adapts every Sunday morning so I cannot be 100% what my runs will be past the next 7 days. While I was on C25K it was easier as I could just look for 1 hour blocks of free time. My running shoes live in the car, so on days when I’m out a lot I wear my shorts under my trousers and can be ready to warm up anywhere in 10 minutes!

Hi bike2run

These days everyone is super busy I don't think many people easily find the time but if something worth doing you make time 👍👌 ,my tip is clothes out night before alarm set then out and home before 7 ,I to am single parent with children, animals and work to keep me occupied but running gives me back Abit of head space before the day starts

You can do it ,✌even if you feel tired from a late night a gentle run can give you a great start to the day that you may not feel otherwise ,plus your on week 6 that's brilliant inspirational ! Keep finding the time

Happy running 😁✌
