So I took slow and steady to a new level today. Setting off on my new run route I was determined not to burn myself out. I read a post yesterday about running for fun not time and I have to say spot on Kimchoc08 so today I took it to heart.
Having started this programme to get fitter and to lose weight I have struggled a lot along the way but I have found a new desire to run. I hope that it continues into weeks 10+ .... yeah of course it will!!
When I got to the end of the 30 mins today I found I still had some in reserve so plodded on to compete a 4km run the same as my w8r3 run. I could not do this on Sunday because I was exhausted having gone out too fast. So please remember slow and steady everyone it does work.
No prizes for speed today but I enjoyed the run and that is what matters for now. Today I even took the time to take a blurry photo to share of my loooong (to me) canal towpath. (Sorry about the fuzziness but I refused to stop to take it).
Keep running everyone and believe in yourselves.

I think I remember reading one of your posts about your path being a bit uneven (?) I have extended my route recently. I used to get on at one lock and leave at the second lock and the path is really just like an ordinary road path. When I extended to include this section my first run was in the dark hours of Friday morning and I could not believe how uneven it is compared to what I had been used to. Once I complete week 9 I might allow myself to stop to take pics so fuzz should disappear!! You must be on Week 9 today I suspect? Good luck with your run - enjoy.
Hi Richard, yes, a bit uneven would be an understatement, indeed I and my doctor blame it for my recent bursitis flareup, must have just stepped awkwardly or something.
And regarding taking pics mid-run? I've done that a few times now and it's really really hard, trying not to break stride whilst taking the picture.
Week 9 should start tomorrow for me, weather permitting. Half an hour - can I really do that?
