Graduated in September, and kept doing 30 min runs on a treadmill. Tried going to the park for a 30 min run after not running for a week and failed miserably 👎 gonna give it another go on Wednesday. Wish me luck 😂

It’s still a run. Did you go too fast? Not have the app playing?

I had quite a few days gap before one of my recent runs and felt a bit worried that I’d go too fast or wouldn’t manage the 30mins but then my brain said why are you thinking like this? You’ve followed the program and know that YOU CAN. So I did.

Hope your next run is more enjoyable and positive.

Yer I did go too fast, I’m used to the treadmill so don’t have to focus on pacing myself.

Something I need to get better at if I want to do any park runs

Thank you so do I haha

If you are worried, take it back to 20 minutes on Wednesday until you are back in the zone again?

Yer was thinking of doing that to be honest, I think I’ll aim for 30 but if I get 20 I won’t be to disappointed

Most of my PBs have come after a rest from running for a week or more. I believe that many of us push too hard after a break, when in fact we should be consciously starting off nice and slow.

I aborted a run last week and walked up a hill the week before that I would normally run up.............it happens to us all.

You are a graduate, but not yet a fully fledged superhero, that takes a bit longer. Just go out and enjoy running, without trying to set any records.

Slow is what you should be doing 75% of your running time. Trying to run flat out on every run is the most common newbie mistake.

Every run is training for the next one, so take the positives, learn from the negatives and move on.
