Excellent, nice to see you are still running mate. 😊

MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to Martin_Rose

It’s part of my weekly routine now Martin_Rose .....I plan every other day (or there abouts) around it!! Still hard to believe!!!

Me too, I'm so addicted.

Me too, though I'm still waiting for it to stop hurting on the days in between. Your new kit sounds great

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to ShashHR

Me too, I’m a bit achy this morning ShashHR

Lean, isn't that a great word....?

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to

It is.... I like it even more now!! 😉

As a Southerner (well Easterner really!) I get very confused by the usage of the word pants. 🤔😉 This new lean world we live is fun isn't it?! 😁👍

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to lardofale

Lol...pants?? Trollies....what do you call them you Easterners???!!!

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to Mummycav

And yes, lean was only associated with steak/mince etc....but now, I’m lean, apparently, that’s ok by me!!! 😉

lardofale profile image
lardofaleGraduate in reply to Mummycav

Aah! Trollies it is! The missus and her family are from Bolton and refer to trousers as pants. Causes my boy some problems when he's told to take his muddy pants off! 😁

Thecko profile image
TheckoGraduate in reply to lardofale

For northerners Pants = trousers/shorts/etc, underwear = undies (or a few other slang words)

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to Thecko

Undies...clarts...knickers

In Liverpool we have kecks (wouldn't know the proper spelling)

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to ste6422

Yep, kecks here too ste6422

iain-strachan profile image

Just to add to the confusion, "pants" also means "no use", as in "that's pants!"

Yep..I get that...useless, rubbish!!!

Well done Mrs, lots of new high viz gear here too and also a little light that flashes

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to rolysmate

I like new gear rolysmate ..it’s better than any new clothes....even my Avon lady commented on how I looked tonight....that was before I set off so I didn’t look like a raspberry!!!

It's nice buying new bits...I've just bought a cap - to keep rain off my glasses, gloves & a thin hoody for the cold, a top and reflective bands in case I venture out of the rec. if it's too dark. It was all fairly cheap but I could happily spend a fortune. It's all in the name of keeping going! :)

damienair profile image

Well done. I've been a graduate since June. Only managed a 30 minute 5K once. I hope to do one again before December. I'm away with work tonight. Went for a 5k run in Watford. Never would have brought running gear before. I even picked a healthy low fat dinner afterwards in the Hotel. Who am I anymore?

in reply to damienair

Love it!! 😁😁😁

Mummycav profile image

I’m going to a wedding in December & have to buy an outfit & it’s killing me, I’d rather go to the running shop & spend my money on Lycra....but don’t want to upstage the bride!!!! 😂😂😂

lardofale profile image
lardofaleGraduate in reply to Mummycav

A lycra wedding outfit is something I'd better get out of my head. Having said that I've got a wedding in two weeks, my mate is a cyclist so that could be a case of not wanting to upstage the groom.....! ;0)

I’m in London on business.

Used to book hotels close to nightlife and restaurants. Now booking them close for somewhere to run.

Used to always visit a Harley dealership for a mooch around. Yesterday I was in a running shop!!!!!!

Oh yeah, lean and mean mummycav, lean and mean. 5k will come. My alternative 5k programme has longer training that gets to 5k. I did 4.75 today or something.

Glad to see you're on the every-other-day kick.

I guess I ought to lose some weight soon? But it hasn't happened yet.

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to ejvcruns

ejvcruns ....I think it’s not a case of weight loss, although I have lost weight, but my shape has changed, I bought a size smaller, I thought I’d end up taking them back but after the ‘lean’ comment, they’re definitely staying!!!! 😂

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate

Wow.... what a difference a running programme makes :) Well done you.... I bet your friend was so jealous :)

Carry on, just as you are.. you will get where you want to be... :)

Lean, keen, running machine...Super Mummycav:)x

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to Oldfloss

Oldfloss ..I’m going to keep on repeating week 9 because A) I’m not able to say a total goodbye to Mr Smooth, I’ve stopped doing W9R3 because he says goodbye at the end & that makes me tear up so I do runs 1&2 ...&

2) I think I still need to be told what to do

As well as being called couch to 5 k it should be called someone to someone else!!!!

I love it...I’m telling everyone about it!!! 😊

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to Mummycav

...and when you are ready... try the C25K+ podcasts..they tell you what to do...too :)

Ificandoit profile image
IficandoitGraduate in reply to Mummycav

Yes - I'm going repeat w9 rubs for a while too - In fact I repeated w5r3 on Monday because I was short on time. It was great to feel how much easier that 20min run was than the first time. Keep posting - it's giving me a bit of structure to read what all the other recent grads are up to!

Martin_Rose profile image
Martin_RoseGraduate in reply to Mummycav

It should be called couch to lean/ addicted to lycra.

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to Martin_Rose

I must admit, I did look quite lean when I took a closer look Martin_Rose !!!

dubnde profile image
dubnde

Well done.

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to dubnde

Thanks dubnde ...how you doing?

dubnde profile image
dubnde in reply to Mummycav

All good. Still consolidating my runs. I started by doing 5K as slow as possible(>50 mins) once I graduated. Then increasing speed one bit at a time using some training on runkeeper. Program mixes jogging slowly, intervals and fast runs at different paces/distances. So far so good as it has brought my time down a notch. Also like the idea some runs are short.

IgaT profile image

Amazing! Running, lean, happy :)

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to IgaT

It’s certainly amazing IgaT ...I’d never have thought I’d plan my days around running...ever!!!!

i finish mine tomorrow! what programme ar you now following? congrats btw!

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to

Hidden ....I’m just repeating week 9 until I can get to 5k in 30 mins, then I’ll move on

in reply to Mummycav

oh ok, are you finding that motivating enough? i have same goal, want to get to 35 mins first (currently at 36.52 which i did accidentally at park run). then down to sub 30 too. i have quite a few goals but i think this is my first! i want a medal!!!! wish c25k produced one, I think people would buy them. I also fancy running the Amsterdam 10k and joining my local running club but need to get to a pace of around 10.50 they recommend. i think my body and mind have been overtaken by aliens. cannot believe i am even writing this!!!!

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate in reply to

Actuallly Hidden ...I was thinking last night I don’t think it’ll be too many more runs before I feel I need to move on

in reply to Mummycav

let me know what you choose to do. i was thinking of the stamina ones but in reading some graduate posts i think they may be a bit difficult to start. may consolidate like you have on week 9 and aim just to get a bit more distance in each time, even if it's a few yards! yeh for strava!

RunForestR profile image

So this programme is really C2runningshop.........you just made me go late night running shopping - hope you're happy. No seriously hope your happy....I am. Enjoying this running lark - just need to go to bed earlier!
