I've recently moved back to university, so have had to change my run route from the completely quiet forest and country roads to slap bang in the middle of a busy city centre. I'm not used to seeing people on my route, does anyone have any advice for not letting them affect my confidence?

Change of scenery
It's very common to feel self conscious when we first run but this feeling passes the more we do it.
Most people are so wrapped up in themselves and their own lives that they don't even notice others. Especially runners because to non-runners we are mad as hatters. The other people are shamed (I really should do more exercise) or amazed (she/he looks fit 🙂 ) or jealous (I wish I could do that).
You're doing something amazing for your health and well being and most people will never know the joys and huge benefits running brings. Running is hard which is why most people don't do it. But you do so you should feel very proud of that.
Hold your head up high and keep running. You're doing this for you.
Yep.. imagine them naked Okay..maybe not... that might impact on your running..
Just know that they are totally getting on with their own lives..if they do look as Irishprincess says.. probably jealous or runners who wish they were running
Watched the odd (not odd like that!) runner from a bus earlier, felt nothing but envy.
However, it is an understandable worry in that a lot of people have felt the same - maybe read some of the posts here though, people who were once worried will now proudly strut (or stride) their stuff through town centres and fields alike. I hope Mummycav doesn't mind me summoning her here? There was a post recently ...something about some beefcakes
I still avoid gaggles of children though. Those creatures are mean. But otherwise, most people really don't notice who goes past.
