Do you want to be able to run for 30 minutes? If so then I'd say yes but only you can decide whether it is for you or not.

7 weeks ago I struggled to run for eight sets of 1 minute runs, this morning I ran for 25 minutes, I'm 46, around 300lbs, last time my blood pressure was checked (about 2 months ago) it was elevated but still on the ok side, if you know what I mean?

Yes definitely - See kwasminator s posts from earlier today.... This is a fabulous programme and supportive forum :)

Let me see???? YES!!!

Great reasons for starting.... and just follow the programme, take your rest days and make sure you listen to your body!

Read the posts and replies.... find some other Newbies to start exchanging experiences with too.

The main rule to follow is slow and steady... all the way to that podium:)

Oh... keep posting too!!!

I am also 57, never ran since schooldays (a long time ago) and needed to stop putting off doing something about my lifestyle. I started walking 10,000 steps a day in January, lost a couple of stone, then began this wonderful programme in June. To start with I struggled just doing the 90 seconds, kept saying I couldn't do it, but then read on here about all the other people who felt the same, but then DID it. It hasn't been easy, but I am pretty stubborn and I just wouldn't give up on any of my runs. Last week I graduated- fitter, happier, and determined not to slip back into old ways. Carrying on doing 2 or 3 30 min runs a week, and promised my family at the start of this year that I would run a 5K before Christmas.

You can do this, this forum will help you. On days when things don't go well it will pick you up and give really good suggestions; it will celebrate all the small (and big) milestones. If like me you are a bit shy about posting, then just read for a while. People on here don't know each other but are genuinely rooting for you - it is a great feeling.

So stop thinking about it and give it a go!

Yup.... 57 makes you a spring chicken, there's much older folks on here. ...

I started at 56, nearly 57 having never run at all

I am nearly 60 and training for my first marathon, having done two halves. Got another half marathon next month

So yes I'd say it's for everyone 🙂

It's progressive and can be done slowly. Slow is a lovely word as you'll soon find out.

Good luck

Hi

I'm 10 years older, a lifelong Couch Potato and if I can do this, anyone can! I'm on Week 3 and will not give up 😀

I have week 4 run 3 tomorrow, never done any exercise before and am 56. If I can do it anyone can, it's a brilliant programme so far and I am loving it!
