Well here goes! I'm ex army and used to be quite fit, since having my daughter and becoming a nurse I have struggled to motivate myself to do anything feeling tired and exhaust most of the time . So I thought I'd try this app to help me get back into running and hopefully get some motivation from you guys

You've done the best thing ever!! You've downloaded the app, got your running gear so all that's left is to get out there end enjoy it!!

You will get loads of support and encouragement from the lovely people on this forum as we've all been where you are as we all had to start at the beginning.

Follow the app, take your rest days and above all it enjoy it

I've just completed the programme,a fellow nurse and fast approaching 60 😱

Never ran in my life and now I've got the bug !

So if I can do it you will definitely nail it πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

If you can be in the army you can do this! That takes guts and determination , i definately couldnt do it. Im positive your gonna love this program , good luck and let us know how you get on

You are in the right place for support and motivation. Of course you can do this. You need to commit and follow the programme, but if you do that...you will love it!

The hard part is over. Now enjoy the journey and any challenges it brings.

I'm ex-Navy and felt exactly the same as you. 5 weeks in I can honestly say it takes me back. This type of training really works for me. Being told exactly what to do and when is great!

Looking great... hey being a nurse is the issue with the shifts stress etc lol, no really mate keep going your doing great πŸ˜€

First off loving the fluoro girl! That is my outfit for tomorrow morning sorted - thanks for fashion advice.

Secondly and way more seriously, well done you. Choose your coach, I have Mr Smooth Michael Johnson, as he has bling and really who can ignore an Olympian....

Thirdly, kick the couch long and hard before your first run. Look here for encouragement advice and cheering when you succeed Week by Week.

We have two site mentors Oldfloss and IannodaTruffe whenever they post or answer someone, you can be sure of getting great advice.

Follow the programme..take it slow and steady and make sure you take your rest days too.

Extra non-impact exercise on rest days too, is helpful for building stamina and core strength up too... swimming, yoga cycling etc...:)

Don't be tempted to push too hard... just take each week as it comes..take it gently and enjoy this journey... we are all here beside you :)

I think you'll love it. Just be warned - if you're ex-army, your modest "used to be quite fit" is probably far greater than most of us have been in the past. Don't be tempted to skip rest days or running weeks or push the speed. The programme is great for building up strength and stamina safely, and hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised at how your fitness returns. 9 weeks is very short in the great scheme of things.

I also think that if you can make yourself get out and run between nursing shifts and parental responsibilities, you'll be doing yourself a HUGE favour, not just fitness-wise, but also mentally. Most of us find running a great de-stresser, being a time set aside just for ourselves and finding that our minds wander all over the place, plus that great benefit of being outside.

In your honour and fashion guru advice I ran in a Fluoro yellow top and black capris this morning, had to put on a pink anorak over it, but the thought was there... hope your first run has gone well
