Week 6!

I'm super struggling with this one, I allowed myself 3 days of rest before tackling this again, that made no difference.

Run 2, the first part I'm fine, then as soon as I stop for the walk and try to get back into it, I'm spent. I'm almost certain it's a mental block, but how do I get past that?

Help peeps xxx

Try going really slowly even if you think you are not and break the run up into segments. Are you running outside if so set yourself a target to run to and do that until you have finished also try mixing up your route if running the same circuit more than once.

How are you feeling after the first running segment? If you are really tired and so having to walk quite slowly, try slowing your run pace down and keeping a brisk walk. Then when the 2nd run segment starts, it might be a gentler transition. For some reason I found these walk segments on W6 quite tough too, and I think others have also.

You are going too fast even if you think you are not. This one was the one I almost didn't finish. I thought I was going really slow. Just about to give up and got the 60 seconds left so did manage to finish. When I got home and checked mapmyrun I found it wasn't slower than the previous run, it was a tiny bit faster. I still really struggle to judge my speed.

I haven't done this one yet but screwed up Run 1 in Week 6. Sometimes you lose the momentum with the break to a walk and that coupled with probably going a bit too fast messes with your rhythm. It didn't make sense to me because the Week 5 20 minute run seemed easier bizarrely. At one point on the W6 run I was talking loud saying "slow, slower, slow, slower". It was an ugly run, but I did it - I do think this Week has a certain need for a mental readjustment. For me the talking helped because it really made me focus on speed. Best of luck for your next success. And it will be you got this.

Thanks peeps, having looked at my Strava, I am going a bit faster than before and that's with nearly collapsing and hyperventilating (slight exaggeration), so tomorrow I'm going to go out again and this time slow it riiiiight down, fingers crossed it works! It's crazy to think your going slow as can be yet in reality your jogging faster than before haha xx

You will do it of course you will, its weird that our bodies (that nearly came out as biddies!) seem to self sabotage by letting us go faster and then it hurts. It must be some muscle memory thing I think. Tomorrow thinking of you I have run 2 W6 first attempt... so peeps we are both in the mix tomorrow.
