Charity runs

Is it okay to sign up for a charity/fun run without expecting sponsorship? My friends are very generous but I don't feel comfortable asking them for donations too frequently.

Hi there, I don't think I've done any organised run that isn't fundraising for something, I rarely ask people for sponsorship, it isn't usually a pre requisite for participating, if I can I put some money in the pot as well as the entry fee, or I try to buy something, e.g I did 'race for life' and bought a vest top from the charity to wear on the day. I also volunteer at some events. I do tell friends and family of the events I do, as they know I 'do' running....and often ask what I'm up to on a weekend, it's up to them if it's a cause they want to support.

It's such a personal thing, so I wouldn't feel bad about it, I know of people who never contribute anything.....but still expect events to be there for them, usually all run by volunteers.....

Yep. They would rather get at least your entrance fee than not get anything at all Plus - the more people who run, the more publicity for their Charity. EVERYONE wins when you run in these things
