So, this is my 5th attempt at the program over the last several years. The furthest I've made it is into W9. Each of my previous attempts ended with shin splints and me losing motivation to get back at it after recovering.
This time around I've concentrated on going slower, which seems to have helped with the shin splint issue. It's been smooth sailing up until tonight. I was on the last 2 min. of the second 10 min run for W6R2 when my calf tightened up to the point that I had to stop. It's still pretty sore and I'm limping around.
Really hoping its just a cramp or light strain and I don't have to take any extended time off. It's so hard for me to get back into it after the routine is broken. So damn frustrating.

Think we could start a 5th time lucky group. Just finished this week on my 5th attempt at the programme and hadn't made it as far as you other times. You can do this , and it feels great especially after all the false starts.
Keep going, just take more rest days if you need to. I found I could only run every 3-4 days when I hit W6
Good advice 5thTimeLucky. I would add that during these rest days, you could try doing some W1 or W2 days in between. Ok, it'll take you longer to get to W9 but who's counting? Good luck with the recovery 👍
I attempted to stop smoking many many times (much more that 5) and you know, I haven't smoked for 10 years. You WILL complete the C25K if you keep trying.
Thanks for the replies and advice. I've been pretty lax about stretching in general. I usually just stretch for a few minutes before I run, don't think I have ever stretched after a run. I'll definitely take more time to do that going forward.
My calf is feeling a little better this morning. I guess I'll take an extra day or two off and then try a light run. Thanks guys!
