Absolutely gutted 😭 W8R3

W8R2 started really well but half way through our Weimaraner Toby ran at me and shoulder barged me into a fence, I steady myself and carried on running. After 3-4 minutes I had a slight pain in the bottom of my calf but I kept going and finished. Had it strapped for my rest day. Got up this morning, it felt fine, put strapping on it again and set off for W8R3 got half way through, I felt a twang and immediate pain and had to stop 😒. The pain covers a larger area now and is so painful. Almost got to the end with out injury - the end seems so far away now πŸ˜”πŸ˜”

Oh I'm so sorry, this is the time when looking after your injury properly is more important than the program. Rest your muscles and let them heal before you try and run again.

Morning I have rested, took brufen and put ice packs on my calf for a week. I was walking pain free for a few days so decided to try W8 R3 this morning. When I started I could 'feel' the injury a little, it was comfortable so kept on running and finished πŸ‘‹ but once I got out the car at home I'm in pain again πŸ˜” (currently sitting with an ice pack). Don't know what I should do now??

I think it might be time to have a word with your Gp. So sorry you are still in pain.

Definitely rest a calf muscle tear (get it seen to if near your Achilles) or you will be on the IC longer. I am not sure how you are strapping it but be careful it could do more harm than good (e.g. DVT). Elevate, ice and gentle exercise to keep the joints mobile. Make sure you can walk pain free before running.

Thank you for your advice. It's hard to rest with the flow of life but I will try. I'm using a tubigrip for support/strapping. It's not too tight but supportive.

Tubigrips have been shown to not be helpful at all and are no longer used in any A&E. And yes rest does get boring :(

Glad to hear it, slowly increase your walking before running again.
