Just putting it out there for the people that have been running a while .... has anyone noticed a difference in weight or body shape and if so how long is it before a difference is noticeable ?

I think there are varying experiences - I'm 10 days past graduation and still exactly the same weight as I started (ie still a little overweight 😕)

Did you measure your waist at the height of your belly button before starting?

I'd bet that if your weight has stayed the same, your body fat will have reduced. It has to have, because your muscle mass will have increased so to stay the same weight something else had to decrease. Short of lopping off a limb, that can only mean that your body fat has reduced.

Unfortunately not, but no obvious extra notches needed on any belts!

I thought I would lose weight but gained half a stone! Didn't even think I was eating more! Have joined slimming world now to monitor my food and help me lose weight!

However, my clothes are loser and my legs are getting nicely toned so I do feel better in myself!

Don't go by weight alone. It's a terrible measure.

I think you'll see things happening if you measure your waist over time.

If your clothes are looser, that says it all. Muscle is heavier than fat by volume (as in one cubic centimeter of muscle weighs more than one cubic centimeter of fat).

There was a case in the news and while ago about a super fit teenager being branded morbidly obese because he was 18 stone. He was a keen rugby player and had tonnes of muscle and not an ounce of flab.

You can drop a stone in a week just by severely dehydrating yourself then put it straight back on just by drinking plenty.

I wasn't overweight or looking to loose weight when I started but you know, you can't help but hope! Whether it be for tone, narrower waiste or thighs to die for. I didn't notice any of these things, just an increased appetite and cravings for bad stuff to eat. My teenage daughters ( ever the source of "tell it how it is, honesty) started to comment on my bum. Looking in the mirror the other day, I saw what looked like my old bum ( which I neither liked nor dislike, we just got along as best we could), wearing the rear end equivalent of a bra! You know the difference of trying on a top with and without a bra, well I'm in my late forties, and know only too well! My bum looks like someone's grabbed it and lifted it up about two inches. I like😀😀!!

Sorry if this is a bit tmi but I don't know how else to explain it.

My initial goal was to lose weight, due to a high cholesterol level. So I've worked hard to change 47 years of bad eating habits along with C25K for exercise. What is working well for me so far is an app to record what I am eating and drinking. I'm using My Fitness Pal, but there are lots of others too. I've found it super easy to record everything (using the barcode scanner mostly) although you have to be careful about accurate portion sizes. Home cooked dinners can be tricky too. What I have found is that doing this has really helped stop my snacking habits. Everytime I was tempted to snack on a chocolate bar, seeing the effect on my daily calories has stopped me. I've now been doing it for 3 weeks, keeping to about 1800 calories per day, and I've lost 5.5kg. 😀
