You didn't take a rest day.....the rest day is there to aid recovery of your muscles. If you keep running and don't rest you will end up on the IC.

Well done for getting started on C25k.

Different days bring different runs for all sorts of reasons. Don't worry about it. Put it behind you and think about your next run.

This 'journey' is just about you so do it at your own speed, slow is good! So if you're struggling slow down, it's not a race.

Always take your rest days and trust in the programme, it works, there are many runners on this forum to prove that. There's always support and encouragement here so keep posting.

Good luck and happy running, you can do it!

SC just told you and I will repeat it. Follow the instructions and have a day off from running after each run, when you can do other non impact exercises.

When you run your muscles get micro tears in them. These repair and strengthen on the days when you are not running. Without the rest day you don't repair or strengthen. Take your rest days, please.

I also found the second run of each week the hardest. I think it is purely psychological. You are up for the challenge of a new week, on run one. Underestimate the challenge of the first repeat and then by the third run you are feeling more comfortable with that effort.

Well done keep up the good work.

Totally agree about the rest days.

Explanation for 2nd run being the worst is very similar to mine, except I think I always assumed the first run would be terrible, was pleasantly surprised to find it survivable and was then over-confident on the 2nd.

You need a rest day between runs! Ignore it at your peril. Honestly, you need to rest and allow your body to repair, and your running legs to get built, which happens on. Your non run days.

It's a fab programme but do it really slow and steady to stay healthy and injury free.

Have fun! 😃

As the others have said take the rest days. I made the same mistake as you and ran without rest days it's no good.

I'm lucky I didn't injure myself but I know others who have

Take care and keep up the good work x
