Hi all, I ran my 6th Parkrun and my first post-graduate run this morning. I went to a new Parkrun today, travelled to Marley Park Parkrun in Dublin to meet my 2 sisters. It is a full 5 km circuit, no laps of the Park like my local Parkrun. It felt twice as long and I found the last 2 km really tough going. I only just realised why after analysing data from Runtastic which I used for the first time today. I made some mistakes, obviously got caught up in the excitement of running in a larger field of runners than I am used to.
1km - 06:27
2km - 05:32 - way too fast
3km - 06:24
4km - 07:20 - legs got heavy, I had to walk for 300-400 meters.
5km - 06:27
On the 2nd km which was mainly downhill I ran way too fast and by the 4th km I was exhausted. I had to walk fast for about 300-400 meters. I was wrecked when I crossed the line, but happy to have a new PB. I still have a lot to learn and a lot of training ahead of me to be comfortable running for 5km. So happy that I have Parkrun every Saturday morning to train for. Felt weird running without the C25K app running in the background today.
