So.... My last post was 6 months ago, I was straight out of surgery to remove the metalwork in my ankle.
Recovery was OK but I was told to take it easy, go back to physio and hopefully I would be in a position to start training in May. The physio discharged me at the end of April and said she had done everything she could for me but she felt that I would never manage to run for any extended period and certainly not 5k, as now when attempting to run I have a limp due to restrictive movement in my ankle. I left the hospital feeling absolutely gutted.
For those of you that have read my previous posts you will know how stubborn I am, my Dr laughed at me when I said I wanted to try C25K it took me 6 months of persistence to complete it the first time round but I did it against all odds and I went back to the Dr and told her that I had completed it and lost 10kg and not needed my asthma reliever since week 3. I know I have to be sensible to avoid further injury or putting too much pressure on my knees but I AM DOING THIS.
I started really gently on the treadmill (I only run on my treadmill due to issues with self confidence amongst other things) I managed to complete all 3 runs on week 1 and week 2 and tomorrow I will be attempting the first run of week 3.
My ankle feels a bit weird running but I'm doing all the stretching exercises and managing to run with reasonable dignity.
